Ruth’s studies began at the Art Institute of Chicago and the Suburban Fine Arts Center in Chicago. Later, she continued with the Layton School of Art in Milwaukee, the University of Wisconsin and the University of Minnesota.

Her paintings have a special personal quality. Looking at her work you feel like you’ve stepped into an inviting world where no outside disturbance can penetrate your serenity. Her subject matters are often taken from nature or imagined interiors that seduce and delight the senses with their warmth and intimacy. Ruth finds her motifs in the sunny fields of lavender and the flower market stalls of Provence. In her interiors, one can see the influence of the lovely salons and homes of the French countryside, the open balcony where one wants to sit reading a book and looking out at the garden.

She lived for many years in Scottsdale, Arizona, where her creative spirit and technical inspiration were nurtured and enriched by her husband of 50 years, Earl, a skilled and talented sculptor and painter who was featured alongside her in numerous galleries.

Ruth has two adult children. She currently lives and paints in Los Angeles.
